Gerhard and Brigitte Pittnauer are considered among the best austrian red wine producers, and what they are able to deliver with the autochthonous and fascinating variety St. Laurent, is just a confirmation of their status. The grapes come from a cru, located in the north of Burgenland region, a plot called Ried Altenberg, whose soil is rich in gravel. The wine matures for almost a year in small used barriques. We are in front of a classy red wine, that is able to show its richness and complexity both in the nose and in the mouth: fragrant aromas of raspberry, blackberry and cassis are followed by a velvety and elegant tannic structure.
