Grape varieties: Roter Veltliner
Region: Wagram, Niederösterreich
Winemaker: Fritz Salomon
"We haven't had that spirit here, since 1969", as Fritz Salomon could sing about his new creation. The vintage that saw the Woodstock festival and the moon landing was in fact the last year of Roter Veltliner production, according to the records of Gut Oberstockstall winery. It then was replanted in 2015 to produce a monovarietal from a single vineyard, called Halterhaus. Once much more popular, and now considered a niche grape variety, it is distinguished by giving the wine a soft, pleasing character. A bottle that combines history, tradition and the quest for modernity.
