due to the not so uplifting weather forecast of this weekend, we decided to postpone the vintage market to another following Sunday.
But no time to be sad, we're heading to the Thursday tasting first and prepared some other upcoming surprises for you. Soon tba...
We open the flight in Emilia Romagna. Podere Magia was founded in 2014 in the homeland of Lambrusco, by an agronomist from Piedmont who has many years of experience as a teacher and advisor for biodynamic cultivation. Using wine varieties such as Lambrusco Maestri, Spergola, Trebbiano and Malvasia. Malvasia dell' Emilia 2021 is an incredibly aromatic mash-fermented version. Traditional fermentation directly in the bottle, full-bodied and very, very expressive. A truly festive start to the tasting!
Since we just came back from this pittoresque, enchanted place and that we can’t seem to transition to Viennese life yet, we’re taking you again to Banyuls. A must for all Banyuls lovers: La Luna Blanc 2023 from Bruno Duchêne. Grenache Gris and Grenache Blanc made into an amazingly delicate white wine - only Bruno can do that. As every year, quantities are strictly limited, so first come, first served... You know it. ;)
I Mandorli, located in Toscana is a small company constantly evolving. The terroir is both influenced by the sea and forests. Aleato 2021 is a rosé blend made of Aleatico and Sangiovese, spontaneous fermentation and then left in a concrete tank to rest for 8 months. The nose is expressed with hints of blackberries, ripe cherries and notes of Mediterranean scrub. The palate reveals itself to be intense, deep and with good freshness.
In 600m altitude in Campania, the winery Sang decided to grow Falanghina, a native grape that is thriving in Torrecuso. With 5 days on the skin in a steel tank, bottled before summer and no sulphites added, this wine is quite wild! With a beautiful structure, Attuppertú 2022 will know how to talk to you. Only a limited amount is available, a nice opportunity to try it!
The entry level to introduce the comfortable country atmosphere of Cascina Tavijn's wines is well represented by Vino Rosso 2022, an ideal welcome glass in this land of sweet hills and red berried grapes having different profiles, but all together capable of forming a real family, just like the various personalities living in the winery led by Nadia Verrua. The grape used here is Freisa, another Piedmontese underdog, which can be found in many different growing areas of the region, it is a strong and generous variety, but often relegated to a secondary role. This Rosso is a simple, humble and sincere interpretation of Freisa, a perfect bottle to accompany traditional country snack breaks and picnics.
See you soon at Karmeliterplatz!
