Tasting 1st February

am January 29, 2024
Dear Vinifero-Friends,

January is almost over and for those among you that are looking forward to the upcoming Wine&Dine events we have good news - at Februar events you can already find the most updated list! Be quick, seats are as always limited.

And now off to this week's tasting line-up:

Since it’s the Ballsaison, we are starting with Opera2021 from Naboso. This wonderful cuvée from Nadja and Andrej, made of Müller-Thurgau, Muskat and Grauburgunder is as fragrant as elegant. A spumante par excellence!

Hundred percent Garganega grapes from vines between 60 and 80 years old, partially late harvested, vinified without any residual sugar left and aged in wood... Perla Vecchie Vigne 2018 is a rare pearl for sure! A white wine of great structure and personality. On the palate, it is sapid and dry with an almond aftertaste that makes place for a mineral-driven finale. Andrea Pendin showing once again which specialties he has up his sleeve vintage after vintage.

In the heart of Tuscany, Francesco de Filippis is experimenting in biodynamic with international and classic grapes. Made of Malvasia and Trebbiano, Daphné 2021 is an orange cuvée, fermented, fined and aged in wooden barrels, after a short maceration in open vats. With a nice acidity, well structured tannic layers and a lot of aromas! Cosimo Maria Masini indeed know what they are doing!

Nascetta 2021 is an autochthonous Langhe vine with a noble past, but because of its fragility and inconstant yields, it was slowly supplanted by other white grapes, until it almost disappeared completely. The version proposed by Cascina Corte is fermented and aged in amphora for about a year. The bouquet releases yellow pulp fruits and herbaceous hints of Mediterranean scrub. The taste is full and round with a long and persistent finish.

A very temperamental Zweigelt the one proposed by Meinklang with Graupert Rot 2019. Classic in its unfolding between spicy textures and red and black berry fruit, the tannins are present but never excessive, the acidity is well balanced and there is a juicy background that makes it really easy to drink and softens its rough and slightly earthy traits. The aging in used casks, guarantees depth and longevity to this Zweigelt.

Can't wait to share this week's tasting delicacies with all of you!
See you at Karmeliterplatz!
