Gerhard Sacher planted his first vines (Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir) in 2010 and from the beginning vinified his wines almost exclusively in unglazed clay amphorae, so-called quevris, as they have been used in Georgia for about 6000 years now. Meanwhile, the trained architect vinifies his wines in organic farming (in conversion) on a farm near Schloss Freiberg in Styria. The vineyard was planted with Cabernet Blanc, one of the best fungus-resistant (PIWI) varieties and is worked by Gerhard mostly by hand. By deliberately avoiding elaborate cellar techniques, Gerhard Sacher traces the soul of the wine and preserves its originality.
