Meanwhile, new week means new tasting line-up:
We will start this week's tasting in beautiful Emilia-Romagna! Podere Magia was founded in 2014 in the homeland of Lambrusco, by an agronomist from Piedmont who has many years of experience as a teacher and advisor for biodynamic cultivation. Using wine varieties such as Lambrusco Maestri, Spergola, Trebbiano and Malvasia. Bianco dell’Emilia is made of Spergola and Trebbiano. Fresh, green and vivid!
Down south, we present you: L’archetipo, an organic family winery, aiming for ecological balance and low intervention wines. Fiano 2021 is a white wine, made of 100% from Fiano Minutolo grapes. In the glass, it exudes very elegant aromas of exotic fruit with light herbaceous hints, which on the palate translate into a harmonious sip with refreshing acidity and medium structure.
For our third wine, let’s jump to Hungary! Vulkan #4 is a white wine produced from Meinklang winery's plots of land in Somló, Hungary. Made of Hárslevelü and Juhfark: the first one is very resistant, has an elegant character and a fruity profile; the second one, literally "sheep's tail" because of the shape of its bunch, is considered one of the most prestigious Hungarian grapes. Vulkan shows a primordial character, with a fresh, delicate and fruity bouquet, together with a woven structure and a persistent spiciness on the palate.
Next we will be pouring a rosé made of Zweigelt grapes, grown in the hills of the 21st district of Vienna - yes, it's time for some Weinbau Sackl's Pink is for Power! A brief aging in wood rounds off the acidity and emphasizes the fruity notes both on the nose and in the mouth, where clear hints of strawberry yoghurt, red berries and light hints of balsamic herbs emerge. Excellent freshness and inviting mouthfeel, a rosé not only suitable for carefree summer days, but a wine in all respects with an intriguing character and a surprising gastronomic versatility.
Last but not least, Cascina Corte, in the heart of Piemont. Cascina Corte was originally founded in the 17th century before being abandoned 30 years ago and only rescued from final ruin by Sandro and his wife Amalia. Barnedól is an intense red wine made of Barbera, Nebbiolo and Dolcetto. Surprising mix of grapes, giving complex fruity and spicy notes. On the finish, earthy and undergrowth notes come to the surface.
