Now to the present week, let us present the wine that we will pour for the tasting on Thursday 16th:
The first wine, Salon Helga, from Totter family, situated 40km to the south of Graz. Salon Helga is a 100% Souvignier Gris pétillant naturel. The Totter family has worked sind 2012 mainly with PIWI grapes and produces wines with precise fruit aromatics and very elegant too! Especially this one has all the quality of a great sparkling wine!
The second wine comes from Sicily, a few kilometers from Palermo. Francesco Guccione produces biodynamic wines that have always been present in Cerasa, giving to his territorial wines the unique touch of his personality. BC is a Trebbiano and Catarratto cuvée presenting circus and fruity notes with a nice balance between acidity and creaminess. The fourth wine is a surprising Pinot Gris from Venezia. Villa Job's Piantagrane 2021 is a single variety Pinot Gris, left for a few days of maceration on the skins to give the wine it's amber colour, that would make you believe this is a rosé. An intense bouquet of flavors on the nose of apricot, ripe lime and aromatic herbs, as well as hints of sweet spices and light touches of honey nuts. In the mouth - a beautiful balance between acidity and silky tannins.
Last but not least, Francesco Marra from Puglia. Francesco has always sold all his organically grown grapes to the other winegrowers until a few years ago when he decided to keep 3 hectares for his own production. Everything is produced with utmost simplicity: Two grapes, Primitivo and Negroamaro, no compromises. Now new to his Portfolio - a Malvasia Nera, which is a concentrated dark red wine with aromas of dark fruits on a spicy and humid earthy background. It is wild, dry and pure on the palate.
Looking forward to see you at Karmeliterplatz!
