Tasting 18th January

We will start in Piedmont where Nadia Verrua's family has lived around Scurzolengo, Asti, since the early 1900s. Since the late 1990s, the young winemaker from Piedmont, driven by passion and clear ideas about what kind of agriculture and what wines should be first thought then made. Mostro 2022 is a petnat rosé, made of 100% grignolino d’Asti. An electric pink with racy mousse opens on hints of flowers and herbs, fresh spices, red fruits. The sip is enlivening, deliciously savory and tannic

For our second wine, we’re heading in the south east coast: Lammidia, Moon Tonic 2022. This white wine is made from Montonico, a local grape variety from Abruzzo that is not planted much these days. It's a nice wine, with dusty fruity and floral aromas. On the palate we discover a nice minerality, floral notes and a little citrus in the finish.

With the view on the Mediterranean sea, in Banyuls, Bruno Duchêne needs no further introductions his picturesque homeland as well as his art of winemaking is widely known already. La Luna rosé 2022 is a cuvée made of Syrah, Mouvèdre and Grenache, all from the same vineyard. Less than 2000 bottles were filled up, and a few are still in our Lager! ;)

Back to Austria, to the Weingut Piriwe in the Thermenregion. Dreia 2021 is a wonderful expression of one of the most typical and rare white grape varieties of the Thermenregion: Zierfandler. This grape variety tendentially give birth to wines with good longevity and alcoholic content, rich in extracts and with a round sip. Just like Dreia: Vinified in wood with frequent batonnage, it exhales aromas of ripe exotic fruits and nuts, soft and exuberant in the mouth, with great aging potential.

 

In Forestville, California, Jonathan founded the Glassmaker company in 2015. This Zinfandel vintage 2020 is a full-bodied smoky natural red wine that is dark berry-fruit forward, jammy, and spicy on the palate, with notes of oak and bright acidity!
