A new week at Vinifero means a new wine list and also a new tasting flight, so let's jump right into it:
We're starting in Catalunya, Penedès, where Joan and his dad have been producing natural wine as Mas Gomà since 2009. While embracing the traditional methods and native grapes from the region. El Mural 2022 is a traditional method of sparkling wine, made from 100% Paradella and and macerated 19 days on the skin. The yeasts present in the bottle to add creamy notes and offset the acidity while avoiding the use of sugar. A very elegant and catchy way of starting the tasting!
For the second wine, we have decided to treat you with a new arrival at Vinifero! A cuvee from the young and promising Stefan Buchmayer, creating new ranges of wine from the traditional family winery. The headquarters of the winery is located in Pillersdorf, halfway between Pulkau and Retz, in the northern part of Weinviertel, not far from the Czech border.This fresh and aromatic Muskat cuvee was experimented with 50% muscat and a blend of 50% piwi grapes, macerated for about 10 days in a steel tank. We hope you'll enjoy it as much as we did!
Let's stay in the Weinviertel, non far from the precedent winery, in Waitzendorf. Sonntag Geschlossen’ wines challenge any preconception one might have. Sonntag Geschlossen 2015 spent over 8 years in a 1850 l cask. From a generous and warmer year, the wine strikes a great balance between maturity, development, freshness and finesse. The ripe fruit profile interplays with both oxidation and reduction, unwrapping an excellent gastronomic wine with depth and texture, of Jura-esque reminiscence. We’re all proud of this wine, partly elaborated by your dear vinifero team.
Now to Germany, in the Rheinhessen area of Germany. After having spent time winemaking with Ziereisen in Baden and Pranzegg in South Tirol, Rückrich came back to the family to start a low intervention Domaine in Eckelsheim. Organic farming, without filtration. Today we present you a fine Ruländer 2022 a.k.a. Grauburgunder where direct press meets maceration. A sharp wine with delicious floral and herbal notes.
Let’s finish with some bubbles! Lately, our Vinifero team has been in the mood for sparkling wine, which is why it's time for Lambrusco. Making precise wines with only 3 hectares for 20 years, Luciano Saetti wanted to get away from the cliché and show the wine world the true powers of Lambrusco. Rosso Viola 2021 is once again made true to the esteemed and traditional wine style of the region: Made only from grapemust, bottle-fermented and disgorged by hand.
