Alcohol: 13,5%
Region: Dogliani, Piedmont
Winemaker: Sandro Barosi and Amalia Battaglia
Nebbiolo is the king of Piedmontese red grape varieties, and its austerity and prestige have very few rivals in the Italian wine scene. The interpretation of Cascina Corte shows an inviting pale garnet red color. At a first smell, varietal aromas of wilted rose, violet and humus appear, whereas the typical spicy flavors come later. On the palate, the classic expressive power is flanked by a softer texture, which is rare in a Nebbiolo, and it is due to the different composition of the soil of the Dogliani area: here, in fact, the tufaceous hills bring a dowry of finer and silkier tannins, so that the wine gains in terms of drinkability and roundness.
