RauSchnitt Weine are Michael Nittnaus and Mathias Rauscher, a East-West connection from Vorarlberg all the way to Burgenland. Because of their mutual passion for wine, they decided to start together this winemaking project in 2019. They currently look after 4 small vineyard plots, that sum up to a total 0.6 hectares. All the plots are located in Breitenbrunn and Purbach, along the Leithaberg ridge of Burgenland. Syrah, Weißburgunder, and Grüner Veltliner grow on limestone, while the Blaufränkisch sinks its roots onto schist soil. Since the beginning they worked according to organic farming, implementing also some soil work performed by horse. Their wines show great precision and depth, as well as the fresh energy brought from their great enthusiasm. Small production, but immense passion!
