Grape variety: Grauburgunder
Alcohol: 12.5%
Region: Pamhagen, Burgenland
Winemaker: Werner Michlits
Graupert means "scruffy" in the Burgenland dialect, and it is the name chosen for this wine made from Pinot Gris grapes, planted in a vineyard which, by choice, is not pruned, leaving the plants to grow according to their instinct. This practice leads to lower yields and smaller than average berries with a higher skin-to-pulp ratio, therefore also providing more aroma, extract and complexity in the wine. The vinification takes place partly in oval cement containers and partly in steel tanks with a maceration period of 10 days on the skins. The aromatic profile recalls apricot, raspberry, rhubarb, citrus and lychee, while the palate is juicy, slightly tannic, fresh and dry.
