Thank you so much for joining the 3rd edition of Vinifair, despite the rain, we were happy to see so, so many happy people exchanging with our winemakers. We truly feel blessed to have such an amazing community!
Now that we’re all rested from these emotions, we can finally pick up on tastings again and special events!
One last event we prepared for you this month:
Now to this current week's tasting...
We will start with the new vintage of Tomi Vincze, our young hungarian friend from Tokaj region. Diversity rosé, a crisp, funky and fruity pet nat made of Blaufränkisch - or in local name: kékfrankos. Perfect to finally enter in the summer days!
A small wine revolution is brewing up in Baden, led by the young winemakers at the Scherer&Zimmer winery in Bad Krozingen. They see wine as a "drinking pleasure for all generations" and want to get it out of the elitist corner. This new vintage of Cuvée weiss, a cheerful combination of Sauvignon Blanc and Müller Thurgau finds a perfect balance between aromas and acidity.
Now locally, with the Sackl winery, located on the northern hills of Vienna, near Stammersdorf. After the Grüner veltliner grapes have been gently pressed, the must remains in contact with the skins for two weeks while fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks.
With a slight reduction and fizziness, only 150 bottles, are produced each year. Don’t miss Presa Forza!
In Toscana now with the winery Ranchelle, where Christoph Fischer decided to rediscover natives grapes and plant them in his 3-hectare vineyard. Between the extinct volcano Monte Amiata and the sea around Monte Argentario. It offers only two wines, a red and a white, which express the fusion of ancient grape varieties grown in the various vineyards of this beautiful land.
Millochio bianco is a heavy orange wine made of Procanico, Ansonica, Verdello.
We finish this week’s selection in Emilia Romagna, with the winery Il Farneto. Marco Bertoni transformed the winery into a biodynamic farm that produces more than just wine. On this plateau between Reggio and Modena, around 10 hectares of vines are cultivated. Berzmein 2019 is a heavy red wine made of 100% Marzemino grape, a local and rarely seen variety indigenous to the Emilia-Romagna region. Grown organically by Il Farneto and aged for 12 months in old oak, it's super smoky and fragrant with aromas of green herbs, burnt ash, berries, and black pepper.
