Dear Vinifero-Friends,
time is ticking, some events are almost sold out but for the 17th dinner we still have seats available. For a quick update for February click on our upcoming Wine&Dine events page.
Meanwhile, new week means new tasting line-up:
We start in Burgenland with a new 100% Grüner Veltliner pet nat from Mike Muff. With a total of 0.7ha on Leithaberg and Gols, Mike is producing not only wines but also cider, in the greatest respect of nature, working the soil with a horse and experimenting for over ten years now in the cellar.
This week we have opted for a Garganega again, but this one is from the south of France, from Banyuls-sur-mer. Jujube 2022 was only briefly macerated to create a light, pleasant white wine fresh and fruity, despite the hot summer in Rousillon. A playful wine, typical of the Tutti Frutti Ananas projects.
Back to Austria, Weinviertel, in the Quantum Winery. From the two leased hectares of vineyards, he produces around ten amazing and unique wines every year, mostly with traditional grapes. Like Enigma Weiss 2021, a 100% Roter Veltliner orange wine. Smoky on the palate, with delicious notes of grapefruit and a nice salty aftertaste. For all the Quantum Winery fans out there, this is a must! Now, let’s head south to Sicilly. in the Guccione winery. In these rugged lands, at an altitude of 500 meters, just a few kilometers from Palermo and the sea, Francesco cultivates in biodynamic agriculture the vines that have always been present in Cerasa. Bianco “C” 2019 is a 100% Catarratto, a classic Sicilian white variety that brings a character of finesse. It's an elegant grape, with its own aromatic delicacy and a strong perfume presence.
Year after year, Nadia Verrua has succeeded in turning her family business into a cult object for all natural wine lovers. With her enchanting charm and curiosity, she has made us discover almost forgotten treasures from Piedmont. Toc #3 is a 100% Slarina wine. A very rare and almost disappeared autochthonous variety, included only ten years ago in the national register of Italian vine varieties. The nose is fruity, clean and fragrant, while the acidity prevails on the palate, followed by a slightly tannic streak and an almond finish. A must try!
Can't wait to share this week's tasting delicacies with all of you!
See you soon at Karmeliterplatz 2!
