The first bottle to be poured, Pizzicante Rosso by Le Coste. Our two winemakers, Clémentine and Gian Marco, have been producing biodynamic wines since the first harvest in the heart of the Latium region. Pizzicante rosso is a Sangioseve and Merlot, naturally bottle-fermented. After a short one-week maceration, it was pressed and left to ferment in vats until bottling, it brings a rustic and fruity soul to the table. Definitely bubbles worth sharing.
We continue with a very different kind of Gemischter Satz, as Florian from
Quantum Winery is known for his rather experimental creations. In the case of the
Chaos Weiß 2022, the name only says it all when it comes to the combination of varieties, otherwise it is unusually charming and at the same time typically easy-drinking for a Schuhmann-Irschik wine.
Our third selected wine is no less than the great project:
Tutti Frutti Ananas. In Banyuls, French Catalunya, three winemakers decided to join forces in a joint project, where each is entrusted with a specific task. The results speak for themselves, the wines are always sold out before they can be bottled!
Nespola is an orange wine composed of vermentino and grenache blanc. The grapes were fermented for two weeks on the skin. This beautiful wine brings gentle tannin, the right amount of orange zest and spice.
The next one is a rosé breaking the clichés: it is a very special one, as it is an amphora-aged Vermentino Nero from Vinci. The
Balenaia Toscana Rosato has everything a rosé lover's heart desires: great red fruit notes, a serious tannin structure and well-integrated acidity. Away from kitsch and towards serious - admittedly quite dark rosé and intense in fruits.
Last but not least, we return to Reggio-Emilia, to Agricola
Il Farneto. The
Giandòn Rosso is of a tomboyish nature, made from Lambrusco and Marzemino, both typical regional grape varieties with strong tannins, also known to make sparkling wines. But because Marco and Tommaso like to swim against the tide, they have created a light version that concentrates on the berry and woody aromas by harvesting early and ageing in steel tanks.
We look forward to see you on Karmeliterplatz for our thursday tasting. And if you can’t make it on thursday, we’ll be there everyday, ready to pour you delicious wines out of our weekly new selection.
